2021 Committee Updates

Please join me in welcoming Bruni Agosto to the MEC Government Affairs Committee. Bruni gave much of her time working this past year as an activist for the PSP. We owe Bruni and the many other activist and members for all their contributions making calls, emails, and phone banking. With all our hard work and determination we successfully got bipartisan support in [...]

Dear Flying Partners, Today President Biden will sign the American Rescue Plan (ARP) extending the PSP. I hope you all have read the latest update from our MEC and CEO Peter Ingram on the specifics of the passage of the PSP extension through September 30, 2021 I want to congratulate and thank each and every one of you for your hard work, calls, emails, and tweets to our congressional representatives in the House and the Senate over this past year. [...]

Simultaneously as Warn letters are being issued, Congress is working on a new Covid Relief Package (American Rescue Plan) which includes an extension of the Payroll Support Program through September 2021. We need your action by calling and writing our Representatives and Senators to ensure we stay connected to our jobs, healthcare, and paychecks. We are fortunate to have our Hawai’i Congressional members’ support. So we have two scripts, one for [...]

On November 3, our country will place the process of democracy on the world stage. In several states, ballots for the General Election are already being cast in what is no doubt the most important election of our lifetimes. It’s up to all of us to ensure our votes are cast and counted. This election brings unprecedented challenges as we vote amid a global [...]

The House and Senate have introduced stand alone legislation for a Payroll Support Program clean extension. It is still our hope for a complete covid relief bill to help all Americans. But we need to keep calling and tweeting both the House and Senate. The link below makes [...]

They say it is always darkest before the dawn. The passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg Friday is a great loss. The partisan rhetoric in DC is going to make it more difficult to get our message of urgency to pass a COVID relief bill. So we need to increase our #ReliefNOW campaign. [...]

It is just amazing the great work you have all done. Hawaii members have by far exceeded any expectations I imagined. So again, thank you and congratulations on a job well done! I just got off the phone with Stephen Schembs, our AFA-CWA Government Affairs Director. We in Hawaii achieved in the first week with all your calls, the support of [...]

We have a fresh new look for our MEC Government Affairs newsletter and I would like to say it is an honor to continue my work as your Government Affairs MEC Chair. TAKE ACTION: Tell Congress to Extend the Cares Act Payroll Support Program We are calling for a six-month aviation Payroll Support Program extension through March 31,2021. All aviation labor is standing together to call on Congress to pass a clean extension of the Payroll Support Program before [...]

The Cares Act included a Payroll Support Program which gave grants to commercial airlines including Hawaiian Airlines. This kept airline workers on payroll with benefits while working or on any voluntary furlough, leave of absence, or low time flying through the end of September 2020. At the time the program was issued, we had no idea that the pandemic would still be [...]

This is an interactive video: We are currently seeking volunteers who can assist your Government Affairs Activists on a phone bank, reaching out to all AFA members. In the call we will ask everyone to call their representatives in both the House and Senate to support an extension of the Payroll Support Program through [...]

If you live in CA, HI, NV, OR, or WA, these states will have absentee/Mail-in Ballots for the upcoming elections. Below I have added links to the states many of us reside in. If you have changed your address or name since the last election, it is important to the future of our lives as Flights Attendants that everyone be registered to vote.
